It's almost time for the December solstice or, as we call it here in the northern hemisphere, the winter solstice. This year, for Nevadans, the winter solstice will be on December 21, 2011 at approximately 9:30pm. For the northern hemisphere, the December solstice marks the longest night and shortest day of the year. After the winter solstice the days will start getting longer, Yay! And even though it is still far off, the days getting longer means spring is getting closer--that thought helps me get through the cold months of January, February, March and sometimes April.
Happy winter solstice everyone!
