Quote of the Week, Perhaps a Bit Longer

"The biological community is a vast and complicated system for sharing and distributing the energy of the sun among a diversity of life forms." ~Martson Bates

Summer Solistice

So, most people know that the Vernal Equinox is my favorite season changer, but today is the summer solstice--the official first day of summer and the longest day of the year. Today, the Sun reaches its most northern point in the sky. After today, the days will start getting shorter :( which always makes me a little sad.

"The word solstice comes from the Latin words for "sun" and "to stop," due to the fact that the Sun appears to stop in the sky. The Sun is directly overhead at its most northern point at "high-noon" on the summer solstice, creating more sunlight in the Northern Hemisphere on this day then any other." - The Old Farmers Almanac
