Quote of the Week, Perhaps a Bit Longer

A hike along Thomas Creek

We have been in Reno for the last 3 and 1/2 days. On Sunday we went for a nice hike along Thomas Creek. It's nice to hike in a forested area, there are no forests in the Pine Forest Mountain Range. The shade from the trees was a really nice treat, Sunday was pretty hot. It felt nice to get out and hike in the Sierras. I have missed the Sierras so much and I haven't really been in them since we have been back. I can't wait to play in them some more, especially once the snow melts. There is still quite a bit of snow up there. We tried to hike in the Tahoe Meadows area, but there was still too much snow (Dan was wearing his keens 8^).

Here are some pics of our hike:

squaw carpet (Ceanothus prostratus)

It's hard to see, but on the trunk to the right there is a red-breasted sapsucker

Dan, Dusty and Bodie relaxing in the shade

The meadow where we took a break, there will be a bunch of wild irises here in the near future

The family hiking

River crossing and wild rose break

Dwarf Waterleaf (Hydrophyllum capitatum)

Rocky cliff behind some aspen who haven't leafed out yet

Whoot, whoot... snow plant (Sarcodes sanguinea), I love getting to see these guys, so pretty and bright
