Quote of the Week, Perhaps a Bit Longer

Romania Bound!!!!

I leave today!

Romania: the A is where Sfantu Gheorghe is located (I think)

I'm visiting my sister, Erin, who is volunteering with the Peace Corps in Sfantu Gheorghe, Romania, checkout her her experiences here: The Pick Up Sticks. I can't wait to leave, this will be my first time traveling overseas. I'm not really nervous, but people keep asking me if I am...maybe I should be. My life as a world traveler has been put on hold way to long - I'm glad it is finally getting started. I have always wanted to travel, but bad luck and life has always gotten in the way.

I say bad luck because when I was a senior in high school I signed up for the annual senior European trip. The school always booked with the same travel company and never had any problems with them. However, the year that I signed up to go was the same year that the guy who owned the travel company ran off with all the students' money, never booking any of the trips and thus crushing my first opportunity for overseas travel. Unfortunately, what this jerk did affected students from all over the Country...what an a**!

I don't know, maybe that first, ill-fated experience somehow made me reluctant to travel oversees and until now, I haven't had a good opportunity/excuse to do so. I hope this trip turns my travel fate around and I will have more excuses/opportunities to travel and experience what the world has to offer.

I doubt I'll be able to post while I'm gone, so don't expect another post until after 09/24/2009. Hopefully I'll have a lot of nice, fun photos to share.

:D the A is totally correct! i'm always a little nervous to travel, especially alone...just being in the right place and getting on the right plane can be a little daunting...not to mention being on a plane for 10+ hours, but it's all part of the adventure! i can't wait till you get here! travel safely :) i wish you could come, too, dan...maybe we can all take a trip together somewhere when i get back.

aw, i just got home and you're on your way to salt lake city. i fell asleep for a bit on the train ride home and when i woke up, i thought you were in the compartment with me, but you weren't. that made me very sad. i hope your trip home goes (went) well and i miss you already. thanks so much for coming out, it was wonderful to see you and to explore a new part of romania together :) love you!
