Quote of the Week, Perhaps a Bit Longer

"The biological community is a vast and complicated system for sharing and distributing the energy of the sun among a diversity of life forms." ~Martson Bates

Golden Opportunity

I know, I know; I did a post on the fall color change last week, but I can't help myself. On Sunday we took the kids for a hike up Thomas Creek to check out the fall colors and of course I couldn't stop taking pictures.

Dusty enjoying the day out

So golden

Hints of red from the turning wild roses

Wild rose leaves

Dan enjoying the glow

Lemon lolly pop tree

Light in the changing willow leaves

In a golden tunnel. I love the golden tunnels, which are created when a trail goes through an aspen grove, with golden leaves on the ground yet plenty of gold leaves still clinging to the trees. It's extra amazing when the sun hits it just right and everything glows a brilliant golden yellow--awe nature.

Sun through the leaves

Golden carpet

More color

and more

Can't get enough of the bright colors

Close up of some aspen leaves

I also love the contrast of the bright aspen leaves against the dark conifers

Just some more gold

Dan and the kids after a water break

Willows with aspen and conifers in the background

The aspens cascading down the valley

Bodie enjoying her princess rock

Dusty and Coco waiting for their treat

Pooped pup

Sun and colors

Aspen and willows in the meadow

Starting to get dark already--early evenings
