Quote of the Week, Perhaps a Bit Longer

10-17-2008: Kaibab Lake, Northern Arizona Loop

Just to catch everyone up, we are currently doing a loop of northern Arizona. We started in Kingman, AZ and headed east on route 66 towards Seligman, we then continued east on I-40 to Williams, AZ. We are currently camped at Kaibab Lake about 5 miles north of Williams on Hwy 64 (road to the Grand Canyon).

(Morning before the days ride). Having oatmeal and tea for breakfast, it seems like it's going to be a hot one. It's almost 9:00am and the moon is still up (not quite ready for bed). Dan's listening to the weather on our emergency radio. The pups are chilling in the sun, relaxing. I love our life right now, living outdoors seeing the Earth and getting to appreciate different landscapes and climates that come with them.

(Evening after the days ride). It was about 1500' elevation change from Seligman to Williams. Parts were steep, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be or as Dan made it sound. I couldn't resist buying some halloween candy at the store in Williams today (Wonka mix and Reeses peanut butter cups). The campground here at Kaibab Lake is closed for the season, which we didn't realize when we made the plan to camp here. However, we are going to camp here anyways. It seems strange mid October is the perfect time to camp in Arizona, why would they shut the campgrounds down this early? Dan rode back into town (Williams) to get more water. The pups are missing him badly, they always do when he rides off without them. I should have grabbed my camp chair out of the doggy ride before he rode off. oh-well, there's a camp table here, so I'm cozy enough.
